FUTA Bus Lines (Phuong Trang), a prominent transportation company in Vietnam, has emerged as the clear winner in the recent bidding process for 37 subsidized bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City. The company secured a significant majority, winning 15 out of 17 tender packages, which translates to the operation of 35 vital bus routes across the city. This move is set to reshape the urban public transport landscape and push forward the city's green transportation agenda.
Strategic Victory for FUTA Bus Lines
The results, publicly announced on the national bidding network, confirm FUTA Bus Lines' strong position in the market. The company successfully outbid competitors for a substantial portion of the routes, emphasizing its commitment to expanding its services and contributing to Ho Chi Minh City's public transport system. This victory underscores FUTA Bus Lines' capability and competitive pricing, as most winning bidders offered the lowest tender prices.
Embracing Green Mobility
A total of 600 new buses are slated to be deployed across these 37 routes, with an impressive 557 vehicles being newly manufactured in 2025. This fleet will comprise a mix of electric buses, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, and diesel buses. This initiative aligns seamlessly with Ho Chi Minh City's ambitious goal of achieving a 100% green energy bus fleet by 2030, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban development.
VinBus Secures Remaining Routes
While FUTA Bus Lines secured the lion's share, VinBus, an ecological transport service company, successfully won the remaining two tender packages, covering bus routes 33 and 150. This collaborative outcome ensures a diverse and competitive service offering for the city's commuters.
Enhanced Services Expected by July
The new routes are anticipated to commence operations in July 2025, following contract negotiations. This timely rollout aims to enhance connectivity, improve service quality, and further integrate Ho Chi Minh City's public transport network. The transparent bidding process, conducted through the national bidding system, has also reportedly saved the city approximately 1,300 billion VND.
The success of FUTA Bus Lines in this tender signifies a pivotal moment for Ho Chi Minh City's public transportation, promising a more efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly commuting experience for its residents.
