Pickleball, a fast-growing paddle sport, is seeing explosive popularity in Vietnam, particularly online. According to a report by analytics platform Metric, revenue from pickleball-related products such as paddles, balls, and activewear on major e-commerce platforms (Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada, and Tiki) reached 228.7 billion VND (~$9 million USD) in the first quarter of 2025 alone. This figure is nearly equal to the entire sales total for 2024, which stood at 271.9 billion VND.

Massive Growth Year Over Year

In Q1 of 2024, sales from items containing the keyword “pickleball” were just 11.5 billion VND—meaning the category has seen a staggering 1,890% increase in revenue in just one year.

  • Product volume grew by 303%
  • Number of online sellers jumped by 394%

This data reflects the sport’s rapid mainstream adoption in Vietnam.

Top-Searched Items

The most searched pickleball-related item in Q1/2025 was paddles, with over 635,000 search queries. Other trending items included paddle bags, women’s pickleball activewear, and men’s pickleball shoes.

Interest spiked particularly from August 2024 onward, coinciding with debates around pickleball attire, especially for female players. While sales dipped slightly in December, they rebounded quickly in early 2025, with March alone generating nearly 100 billion VND in sales.

Affordable Gears Segment Rising

Vietnamese consumers are gravitating toward budget-friendly gear:

  • 200,000–500,000 VND segment (~$8–$20 USD) was the most popular, generating 78 billion VND
  • Products under 200,000 VND (~$8 USD) followed closely, with 71 billion VND
  • 500,000–1 million VND (~$20–$40 USD) gear earned 61 billion VND

High-end gear still lags, indicating a price-sensitive but enthusiastic market.

Leading Brands and Market Distribution

The top 10 brands, including Today U Wear, Picklepro, Fitme, and Joola, accounted for 16.95% of all sales.

Regarding warehouse distribution:

  • 60% of products were shipped from Hanoi
  • 24% from Ho Chi Minh City
  • Only 5% came from international sources

This shows a strong domestic supply chain, with Hanoi emerging as a national hub for pickleball e-commerce.

From niche hobby to booming trend, pickleball is fast becoming a retail powerhouse in Vietnam. With affordability, growing community interest, and active female participation driving demand, the sport’s economic impact is only expected to grow.
